'To the Future' (Locomotion No.1)
'To the Future' (Locomotion No.1) was designed by Playground Sculptures to transform a unappealing railway footbridge facade on the Stockton to Darlington railway line.

The brief set by Stockton Council asked for a design that would celebrate the 'Birth of the Railway's' and it features George Stephenson's famous Locomotion No.1 which ran on the first Stockton to Darlington line, the first passenger railway in the world.

The artwork uses the steam billowing out of the Loco to completely cover the unsightly bridge steps. 400 Children from nearby schools designed the individual leaves blowing within the steam. Fabricated from galvanised steel with an etched finish.
