Primary Growth

Epping Primary School's £7million new Primary Schools development saw Playground Sculptures design artwork based on trees found in Epping Forest for the whole school building. The etched and coloured glass artwork for the central concorse disabled ramp was inspired by microscopic imagery of Hornbeam wood cells, with each class was named after a tree from the forest.

Bark from each tree was cast in bronze and inlaid into the walls outside each classroom. Each classroom door was fabricated in the veneer of the class tree and glass signage with inlaid textured bronze featured each class name. Forest imagery such as tree and leaf silouettes were also stencilled with frosted vinyl onto the entrance windows and ceiling glass.
